Preservation and reuse of a listed building for the accommodation of the Cavafy’s archive, 2018-2020

The renovation of this listed building, designated as a historical monument, is aimed at transforming it into a vibrant cultural hub for the Onassis Foundation. Special attention was given to preserving the building’s historical integrity while adapting it for modern use. The ground floor has been designed to house the precious archive of Constantine P. Cavafy. This space enhances the visitor experience, allowing them to engage with the rich literary heritage in an environment that reflects the significance of the collection.Through this renovation, the building becomes a living monument, blending historical preservation with contemporary cultural activities.
