1st Prize in Closed Architectural Competition, 2021
Architects: Varvara Christopoulou, in collaboration with Thymios Papayannis and Associates (TPA).
The project involves the design and construction of the “Odysseus – The Greeks and the Sea” Nautical Heritage Park, an iconic cultural landmark dedicated to Greece’s maritime history and legacy. Located on a 22,000 sqm site at Faliro Bay, the project aims to create a vibrant, contemporary space for education, culture, and recreation, organically integrated into the natural and built environment.
Inspired by the sea and its timeless influence on Greek identity, the park’s design highlights seafaring traditions and cultural heritage, promoting Athens and Greece as a global center of culture. It strengthens the coastal front’s connectivity, offering a high-quality, welcoming, and easily accessible public space for all visitors.
A decades-long vision comes to life, transforming Flisvos Marina into a meeting point of civilizations, knowledge, and maritime memory.
